The Ministry for Local Government and Public Works was established following the national election of May 2026 and the subsequent reorganisation of Government Ministries. The Ministry brings together key areas and entities that directly serve communities, including the Local Government Division, the Public Works Department, the Cleansing and Maintenance Division, and the Tourism Zones Regeneration Agency, as well as Malta’s National Park at Ta’ Qali.
Working closely with local councils and communities, the Ministry is committed to improving public spaces, infrastructure and essential services across Malta and Gozo. Through its departments and entities, the Ministry aims to build cleaner, safer, more vibrant and better-served communities, while ensuring that residents can enjoy a better quality of life in their localities.
