Recreation spaces for all the family

Life is much more than work and everyday stress. People need their free time to spend quality time with their families in a tranquil and pleasant environment. It is why the creation of public gardens, open spaces, tree groves and recreation areas within the precincts of our towns and villages has become a priority for Local Councils.

While Local Councils are committed to the upkeep and maintenance of existing open spaces and recreation areas, there is always need for more open spaces that serve as an oasis in anotherwise hectic life for students and working men and women. Families coming together in a pleasant environment at the end of a busy day and during the weekend is a concept being put into practice in line with electoral manifesto measures and strategies on the part of both the central Government and Local Government.

Several schemes have been issued to highlight this important aspect in the lives of all Maltese and Gozitan citizens. They are aimed at addressing the needs in localities everywhere with the development and refurbishment of playingfields, gardens, and recreation ares, including the installation of outdoor gyms, for a better quality of life. Projects at Naxxar, Ħal Lija, Ħamrun and several other localities are testament to this ongoing social process.

These are projects intended to help create the essential human necessity of a healthy work-family balance in life, including recreation among loved one, friends and colleagues.
